Jupiter moon explorer is
an interplanetary spacecraft, it is develop by European Space Agency (ESA) and
also contributed by Airbus, The main goal if this mission is to study three of
Jupiter's Galilean moons Ganymede, Callisto, and Europa because these planets
is believed to have liquid bodies making them potentially habitable
environment.
The spacecraft is set for launch in June 2022 and will reach Jupiter in October 2029 after five gravity assists and 88 months of travel. By September 2032 the spacecraft will enter orbit around Ganymede for its close up science mission and becoming the first spacecraft to orbit a moon other than the moon of Earth.
Jupiter has great red spot, and its four largest Galelian moons- Ganymede , Callisto , Europa and lo collectively know as Jovian system. In Feb 2033, it will enter into the circular orbit 500 km above the surface of Ganymede, in order to study its ice caps and magnetosphere.
WHEN IT WILL REACH JOVIAN SYSTEM ?
On oct 2029, it will reach Jovian system it will first perform Ganymede flyby and nearly after 7.5 hrs it will intersect itself with its Jupiter's orbit and after certain time it will completely align itself with circular orbit of Jupiter it is first closest approach with Jupiter. The first Europa flyby will occur in oct 2030. It will enter into the high inclination orbit so that explore the polar region of Jupiter, and it will also study the Jupiter's magnetosphere. then Callisto flyby in April 2031 in order to achieve this then it must on the normal equatorial orbit. then after Callisto it will against transit to Europa by jan 2032.
In sep 2032, it will enter a elliptical orbit to Ganymede. on Feb 2033 it will enter into circular orbit of around 500 km from the surface of Ganymede. it will study the Ganymede's composition and its magnetosphere.
After it consumes all its propellant, on feb 2033 it will deorbit Ganymede.
The Jupiter Icy Moon Explorer orbiter will perform detailed investigations on Ganymede and evaluate its potential to support life. Investigations of Europa and Callisto will complete a comparative picture of these Galilean moons.

THE
MAIN OBJECTIVES ARE :
·
Characterization of the
ocean layers and detection of putative subsurface water reservoirs.
·
Topographical,
geological and compositional mapping of the surface.
·
Study of the physical
properties of the icy crusts.
·
Characterization of the
internal mass distribution, dynamics and evolution of the interiors.
·
Investigation of
Ganymede's tenuous atmosphere.
·
Study of Ganymede's
intrinsic magnetic field and its interactions with the Jovian
magnetosphere.
and also to analyse
chemical composition and organic molecules of Europa to fine the existence of
life, formation of surface layer.
Spacecraft
Spacecraft are designed in such a way to withstand harsh radiation from
sun and Jupiter but, at the same time to get solar power.
It
should 3000 kg of chemical propellant to perform more then 25 gravity assist
and 2 Europa flybys.
Ganymede lander
The Russian Space Research Institute is currently evaluating a Ganymede lander
mission called Laplace-P, with
emphasis in astrobiology.
Cooperation and a possible synergy with JUICE Ganymede orbital mission is being
discussed between ESA and Roscosmos. Russia
had also proposed to power the JUICE spacecraft with a Russian-built radioisotope
thermoelectric generator (RTG), replacing
solar panels that would be vulnerable to Jupiter's radiation.
