In these days we are using a standard 4G connection, broadband connection and above all this we also use fiber for faster internet, but the researchers in Australia are using far more beyond this. They have recorded the highest internet speed of 44.2 terabyte per second (Tbps), the fastest internet speed ever to be experienced. while some fiber connection offers internet speed ranging from 100 mega byte per second (100Mbps) to 1 gigabyte per second (Gbps). so, in this article we are going to see about Australia's fastest internet.

How fast is 44.2 Tbps is ?

Just imagine, 44.2 Tbps is a million times faster than the speed offered by a good Australian government-owned National Broadband Network (NBN) connection.

According to Apple's technicalsupport site, downloading a 2-hours HD movie using a 10Mbits/s broadband connection should take 42 to 60 minutes (as of 26 January 2016).

we can use this speed to download 1,000 HD (720p) movies or more than 50 100GB Ultra HD (4K) Blu-ray discs in less then a second.
Researchers said they achieved the new record speed by using a device that replaces around 80 lasers found in some existing telecoms hardware, with a single piece of equipment known as a 'micro-comb'.
The micro-comb was planted into and tested - outside the laboratory - using existing infrastructure, similar to that used by Australia's National Broadband Network (NBN). these leads to produce a highest amount of data ever produced by an optical chip that are used in modern fiber optic broadband system.

professor Bill Corcoran said about their work

"What our research demonstrates is the ability for fibers that we already have in the ground, thanks to the NBN project, to be the backbone of communications networks now and in the future. We have developed something that is scalable to meet future needs."

This is the key for running industries and advanced technologies in future!

Corcoran noted that a technology like this would be critical to supporting an "unprecedented number of people using the internet for remote work, socializing, and streaming."
Plus, he emphasized, "This data can be used for self-driving cars and can help the medicine, education, finance, and e-commerce industries".
