NASA is ready to launch its first helicopter on another planet.  The robotic helicopter named Ingenuity is a part of NASA mars 2020 mission, where the main goal is to launch perseverance rover. Ingenuity is not a primary tool in this mission, but it will rise along with the rover to scout interesting targets on Mars, and help plan the best driving route for future Mars rovers.

It is expected to fly about 5 times during its test flight, at an attitude ranging from 3 - 10 metre above ground level. each test flight ranging about not more then 3 mins. The overall distance of test flight will cover up to 300 metres. it can use autonomous control and communicate with the Perseverance rover directly after each landing. this works as an premodel for NASA's Mars aerial missions. The contributors of projects are AeroVironment Inc., NASA Ames Research Center, and NASA Langley Research Center

Ingenuity is under construction for 6 years. Now, it is ready for its long journey to Mars by attached to the underside of the mars rover. Mimi Aung, lead the Mars ingenuity project. Perseverance will able to monitor the Ingenuity helicopter through its 23 onboard cameras. and anyway ingenuity will also able to spot the rover. this helicopter will make 3 flight in Mars. but this number will depend on the weather conditions on mars. the Perseverance rover and the Ingenuity helicopter are scheduled to launch from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida on July 20.
